RENEWABLE ENERGY | Carry You Runs On Solar!
Solar energy harnesses the sun's rays to produce usable electricity. Carry You has completed the process of installing a 4.5kW solar system for our office and fulfillment building in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Our NAB-CEP certified solar system is a monocrystalline array that was grid tied and commissioned January 2009. WATER QUALITY | Raingarden & Native Plantings
Water quality can be improved with raingardens! It may seem that we have a lot of water & why bother. But only 4% of the water on earth is in usable quality for human consumption. Carry You has completed the process of designing a 350 square foot rain garden for our Minnesota office. Installation is planned for May 2010. EFFICIENCY UPGRADES | CF Lighting
Did you know that normal light bulbs waste approx 95% of their energy as heat? You can save 40% on your lighting bills by switching out these normal incandescent bulb with compact florescent bulbs. Carry You has converted our office to all CF bulbs.
We also Power Off our electronics to reduce phantom load. Anytime an electronic device (coffee machines, printers, vcrs)is plugged in, it is drawing electricity. This use of electricity while electronics are not in use is called the phantom load. We can reduce energy consumption by simply unplugging electronics and save on electricity bills at the same time.
REUSE | Carry You Packaging
Our products come in either a reusable carry bag or with no packaging at all. We have designed our packaging with durable materials, a carry handle, and a zipper to ensure its use beyond showing off our ever useful products.
RECYCLE | Paper Products and More
Our products are shipped to retailers in recyclable paper boxes. We do not use the excessive plastic wrap or non-recyclable packaging seen with other companies. This determination to recycle can be seen company wide with Carry You. Our office is also on a recycle program involving paper, metals, and plastics.
REDUCE | Shipment Fuel Consumption
Reducing the weight of packages shipped out, reduces the amount of gasoline fuel needed to get them to the customer. We have optimized our shipping to residences by using ultra-light weight shipping envelopes and eliminating extra shipping materials such as peanuts and over wrap. We have also defaulted residential shipments to be delivered by the US Postal Service because they are already driving their trucks to each house, reducing extra driving.
Every step towards becoming more responsibly green, small or large, is a step in the right direction. Don't be afraid to do your part!
